ヤヤって誰？

ヤヤとはギリシャ語で「おばあちゃん」のこと。アテネのこのスタジオがつくるすべての中心にいる人物です。何でも知っているのに気取らず、育て、料理し、分け合う人。

その周りには、人間と動物の友人たち。彼らの考えはいたって単純です。かつてのギリシャの食べものと道具を、いま料理する人に合わせて描き直すこと。クレタ島で搾り、マットな黒い陶器の瓶に詰めたオリーブオイル。九つの島で手摘みしたフルール・ド・セル。島のパン屋がいまも焼くとおり、二度焼いたパクシマディア。

The brand

Who is yiayia?

Yiayia means grandmother in Greek. She is the character at the centre of everything this Athens studio makes — the all-knowing, down-to-earth figure who grows, cooks and shares.

Around her, a cast of friends from the human and the animal world. Together they carry a simple idea: take the food and the objects of an older Greece, and redraw them for people cooking today. Olive oil pressed on Crete and bottled in matte black ceramic. Fleur de sel gathered by hand on nine islands. Rusks twice-baked the way the island bakers still do.

中身は本気、顔つきは軽やか

高級食材のブランドはたいてい、うやうやしく扱われたがります。このブランドは瓶に目をふたつ描いておいて、中にはきちんとしたものを入れます。酸度の低いクレタ産低温圧搾オリーブオイル、生地に牛乳を使ったパスタ、調理中ではなく最後にふる塩。

使い切ったあとも瓶を捨てるのが惜しいこと。そしてその見た目のために、中身を少しも譲っていないこと。そこが好きです。
