Cinnamon and cooked apple with a pastry note underneath — a kitchen smell rather than a perfume. We keep this one for autumn, and for the days the oven stays cold.
Les Choses Simples works out of Provence, where the candles are hand-poured into apothecary jars. The fragrances themselves are composed in Grasse.
We light it in the late afternoon and leave it long enough for the wax to melt right to the edge — that first burn is what keeps the jar clean for every one after. The lid goes back on once the wax has set.
