A bastide is the old stone farmhouse of the Provencal countryside, and that is what Isabelle Boinot drew here. This is the box we reach for when a candle needs something alongside it.
Les Choses Simples has the boxes made in Germany, by a maker that still turns out long poplar matches.
We keep the box beside the candles. The long stems reach the bottom of an apothecary jar without anyone burning their fingers.
